Rides on Sunday!

February 12, 19, and 26; 2023

The cold sucks. But training doesn’t have to.

Ride with friends through Hoosier National Forest and experience the warming spirit of gravel during the coldest month of the year. Each weekend will have different length versions of each route to suit every technical ability and fitness level.

These rides are unsanctioned and self supported.

Ride #3 Ferdinand State Forest - Sunday, Feb 26, 2023

Start Address: Back lot of Marathon Gas Station St. Croix, Indiana (Google Maps)

Start Time: 9 am Central Time (Perry County, Indiana is in Central Time!) / 10 am Eastern Time

Route Info: Original loop is 68 miles, with three shortcuts available that shorten the route for the following distance options (click hyperlink to see route):

Know before you go:

  • This event is entirely self supported and you must have a downloaded version of the route to avoid getting lost.

  • The terrain in Hoosier National Forest is very hilly and the route is fairly remote, but most of the area has cell service.

  • All off-road bikes are capable of traversing this route.

  • A store stop will be available on route right before crossing SR37. Mile marker is 58/54/43/30.

  • Winzerwald Winery and the Ole Country General Store in Sulfur are options for an after-ride meal.

  • Hunting season is over and trapping has begun, but brightly colored clothing is still recommended. More details about Indiana Hunting Season HERE.

Pace Information: This series is designed as a social, endurance training opportunity. If you are looking for a hard, fast ride you’re welcome to challenge yourself but be sure to BYOB (bring your own buddy). Depending on turnout, we will coordinate groups so no one is left behind. All are welcome! Due to elevation gain and surface, expect an endurance pace of 13 mph for the Ferdinand ride.

RSVP! We had well over 30 folks from around the region come to the event. To ensure some riders feel comfortable they will not be “too slow or inexperienced” we have opened a free RSVP page on BikeReg. Particularly if you’re thinking about coming to the 30 miler, RSVP and then check out the “Who’s Registered?” tab!
