Cycling Holdings and Race Penguin Reach Agreement over the Long Run Park Circuit Race
Jeffersonville, Indiana, April 12, 2023 - After organizing the Long Run Park Circuit Race in Louisville, Kentucky under various names since 2016, Abner Miralda and Cycling Holdings LLC of Jeffersonville, Indiana, have reached a deal with Race Penguin of Columbus, Ohio to transfer ownership of the cycling event. Under the agreement, Race Penguin assumes all duties of organizing and operating the Long Run Circuit Race, providing Cycling Holdings space in its programing to strengthen its cyclocross and gravel cycling initiatives.
“I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish with the Long Run Park race over the years,” said Abner Miralda. “We started organizing Long Run as a collegiate event under the banner of the University of Louisville Student Cycling Coalition, then as an independently operated race after the pandemic with the Equifax-Clarksville Schwinn racing team.
“We’ve had current and former national champions compete in our event, and even provided racing development opportunities to riders who eventually went on to win world championships. I’m immensely proud of the work we’ve done alongside our volunteers.”
The final remaining USA Cycling-sanctioned road racing event in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Long Run Park Circuit is keeping road racing alive in the state.
“I’m comfortable handing over the reins to an established organizer with proven experience at every level of endurance sports. The COVID-19 pandemic had a deep impact on our cycling community, and it is my hope that Race Penguin can build on the momentum we sparked when we brought the race back in 2022.”
Race Penguin began as a chip timing company in Columbus, Ohio and has grown as a preferred vendor for some of the largest events in the country. Timing and Producing over 100 events nationally each year Race Penguin seeks to simplify race day in order to amplify your participant experience.
