Cyclocross Resurrection is now part of OVCX!

In its second year, the Cyclocross Resurrection held on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 will be part of the Ohio Valley Cyclocross (OVCX) Series.

Furthermore, Cyclocross Resurrection will play host to the year-end OVCX Series Awards Ceremony and the Kentucky State Cyclocross Championships.

“When we started the Cyclocross Resurrection last year, we focused on having a great race course and a great atmosphere. Being invited to form a part of the Ohio Valley Cyclocross Series, and to host the Kentucky State Cyclocross Championships is a new level we’re excited to step up to!” said lead Race Director Abner Miralda.

The other members of the race director committee are Brad Jacques and John Francisco of Clarksville Schwinn Racing, Phil Gardner and Bryan Davis of The Post Racing, and Tim Beirne of Scheller’s Racing.

“There's no city in the US with a deeper cyclocross history than Louisville, Kentucky. Having played host to world and national championships and with nationals coming back to the city in December, we're thrilled once again to welcome OVCX racing back to historic Eva Bandman Park.” Said the newly minted director of OVCX, David Palmer.

Having previously led Midwest Devo, Palmer steps into the Director role for OVCX and has added new races, recruited a new board of directors, and renewed the series’ commitment to reestablishing the nationally-renowned quality the OVCX became known for since its creation.

“We attended last year's Cyclocross Resurrection and the atmosphere for spectators and racers alike showed that the spirit of cyclocross is alive and well. We’re excited to bring such a fun race to the series and to host our end of season finale race and celebration in Louisville.”

The 2023 OVCX season will kick-off with two “Tune-Up” events organized by the series’ most established junior teams, Devo Cross and Lionhearts CX on August 19 and Sept 3. Placements in these races will not count towards overall series standings as a way for racers to earn early category upgrades and test out fitness before the real season-long charge begins.

On Sept 10th the series will officially set off at Carter CX near Cincinnati, Ohio, then traveling to Indianapolis on Sept 24th for the venerated stone steps at Brookside Park for the Brookside Cup organized by Midwest Devo.

The midway stretch of the series begins October 1st at Harbin Park organized by Queen City Wheels and then into the UCI-sanctioned cornerstone events of the series. The UCI Major Taylor Cross Cup at the Indianapolis Cycloplex has moved earlier in the season, moving up to October 7 & 8. The next race weekend will be the UCI Kings CX at Kingswood Park in Mason, Ohio on October 21 & 22.

A weekend to recover from the UCI block then ushers racers into the 9th edition, and first-time appearance as an OVCX race, of the Treason Cross on Nov 4th. Organized on a private farm and inspired by Guy Fawkes, this evening race will feature a “bonfire” 😉at the conclusion of the final race of the day.

A break in the month of November for Thanksgiving and daylight savings will have racers training diligently for the OVCX Finale, the Cyclocross Resurrection in Louisville, Kentucky at Eva Bandman Park on Saturday, December 2nd and the kickoff of USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships at Joe Creason Park on December 5-10th, 2023.

Details of the OVCX raceday schedule and registration to come soon.
